I’ll keep all of you posted.
My daughter is applying for ESS at McGill too! Wow! Small world…love it!
For those parents who have dual or Canadian citizenship students, they will qualify for the in-province Quebec tuition if they were born outside of Canada and have not lived in Canada for more than 3 months cumulatively. It requires some paperwork though.
Wow! I didn’t know that. Thank you for this information. My daughter is dual citizen. We live in the Northeast and she plans to attend school in Canada. I will definitely look into this.
All other provinces only have two tuition rates: Canadian and international. Quebec has three: in-province, out of province and international. Your daughter would qualify for the Canadian rate in other provinces and in-province rate in Quebec.
Also you must have documentation of her Canadian citizenship.
Good info. Too bad we moved to US when my daughter was 6.
Should we submit grades now or wait to after 1st semester grades are out next month
We submitted grades And put in progress for everything else. My daughter had quarter grades because they are only doing three long classes due to pandemic and condensed a semester into a quarter.
My son was debating waiting because class rank and GPA don’t get updated until Semester grades are final and both will go up, We will have to wait another 3 weeks or so to submit if he keeps waiting.
Our semester ends in February so we went ahead with the first quarter scores - really wish we would hear soon!
There is a new note on my son’s page of self reported grades: " Your self-reported grades were last submitted on November 27th. If you require a correction to one of the submitted grades, a written request must be sent to the Enrolment Services Documentation Centre by mail or by fax to 514-398-4193. The request must be signed by you or by your guidance counsellor."
As three of his grades changed (two from a “A+” to an “A” and 1 from “A-” to an “A”) we will send a fax with corrected semester grades. His final semester grades will be received around Jan 15
I will have my daughter check hers! That’s promising that something is being done!
We checked again last night Son finished mid terms last Friday but report cards don’t come out to first week of February so we sent them yesterday
Hi everyone! I’m applying for Arts from the US. I just finished reporting my first semester grades and my app now says “Ready for Review”. Any idea on when we will start hearing back? I have a 1540 SAT, 2 subj tests, and a 4.0 from grades 10-12. Good luck to you all
All that can be said is that with your stats you should be hearing sooner rather than later. McGill admits from the top down. I know that sounds vague but it is the best anyone can say at this point.
Welcome! Yes we are all eagerly waiting from US schools. My daughter applied to arts, arts/sci and management. From what I can tell the management and arts/sci is more difficult to get into as they have fewer slots - and management will be last to hear from . I would expect in January we should hear back about arts- my daughter has similar stats but we applied test optional so not sure how that will go- she got a last minute ACTafter she had applied test optional that probably would have strengthened her application. It’s very hard to wait when US acceptances are starting to roll out. Are you dual citizens? East or west coast? This forum has been great to check in as we are all in a similar situation!
We are dual citizens from the East Coast! This has definitely been a stressful time on my family.
Arts most likely admitted. Science and A&S good chance. Management is the most competitive but possible. Also note that decisions will come out separately at different times for each program. Management would likely be the last and Arts the first to come out.
Tom of Boston- what do you think the true evaluation will be if students applied test optional? Do you think they will be compared with the applicants who did have SAT or ACT scores to submit , and looked at as a lower level applicant?
I doubt if applicants without test scores will be at a disadvantage per se. There may be some preference for applicants from US high schools with which McGill is familiar. That is those schools that have sent students to McGill in the past. That would include most high schools in New England, NY and NJ. For other applicants there may be a delay as the admissions office scrutinizes the school profile.
