McGill University '25 (entering fall '21) for US students - thoughts? doubts? stats? results?

But you may meet the next Laurent Duvernay-Tardif there.

Yep true, McGill is not bad in football but it just isn’t as big as in the US. But yeah we’ve got a good example of a talented player that went to McGill!

I think NYU, but really amazing write-up!

I just got accepted into the faculty of arts!

I have a 3.7 GPA and 34 ACT. I took a lot of hard classes and attend a very rigorous public school in the US Northeast.

Good luck to everybody!

Has anyone who applied without sat or act scores been accepted? It seems like only those with scores are getting in at this point?

That is a very good question. I was also curious. With McGill being more score focused in past years, it will be interesting to see how test optional translates.

I have also only seen people who applied to the faculty of arts get accepted

The more selective faculties release decisions a bit later. Desautels, Science and Engineering.

Congratulations on your acceptance!!

Quick question, had you already submitted your Semester 1 or first term grades when you got your acceptance?

My son had only submitted first quarter grades when he got his Arts acceptance; for Science they’ve asked for midyear grades, which he hasn’t submitted yet

applied with sat 1590, 4 aps of 5, sat math 2 800, and gpa 3.99 no email, just ready for review since december

yeah, I’m the same way. 4.00 UW (5.01 W) 1550 SAT, 34 ACT (notsuperscored) 35 ACT (superscored), 5 APs (4 5s, 1 4). submitted as early as possible, ready for review since december. at this point I think it’s just whoever’s application comes across their desk first.

I submitted first term grades when I applied. For the faculty of Science, it says that I need to submit mid-year grades for a result.

I’m wondering the same thing. My daughter had to go test optional, submitted her final trimester grades at the beginning of Dec., has a 3.89 unweighted GPA, many APs and has been waiting to hear back. I haven’t heard about any test optional acceptances. She went test optional at U of T and was accepted Dec 15. Waiting…

Same. Let’s be sure we keep each other posted if any test optional students hear anything!

If he is a US citizen it will certainly be a lot cheaper than any other private US school. McGill rivals the tuition of my state college which I also received a scholarship for and dependent on whether or not I receive a major scholarship it would be a lot cheaper than anything besides community college from my experience

Thank you everyone for sharing a lot of insights. I will talk to my son to see if he doesn’t mind the code weather. It surely is colder than New Jersey

Thanks. I saw the tuition for BS programs is around $48k, which is not much different from a normal out-of-state tuition. Am I missing anything?

It surely is colder, though New Jersey isn’t that warm either, but it’s definitely worth it!
