I'm a US student and am considering applying there

one of my friends told me it was the harvard of canada and that it is ranked 13th in the world

it may as well be the Harvard of Canada

according to some rankings it is in the top 25 of the world

Also from canada are U of T and UBC which are both--in addition to mcgill--considered to constitute Ivy league of canada

in Montreal---the official language is French but the instruction language at Mcgill is english

it is a really cool experience

considering how easy it is to get into ---i don't think there is a better easy admission/prestige factor in the world...honestly

I like vancouver over montreal so i chose UBC over Mcgill

they are practically equal in academics

but---

in Asia, UBC has a prestige equal to great american universities--caltech, ucla, UCB, harvard, stanford...i'm not kidding

especially in hong kong, tokyo etc

in europe---mcgill has more prestige by a long shot---on the east coast of USA---mcgill has more prestige

on west coast of america---ubc has more prestige

so it all depends on what you want to do!

both are quite easy to get into

thank you
i just needed support/second opinion
because countless people have told me how amazing it is and yet it is not as selective as many American schools

im from the new england area so its a 6 hour drive but im definitely considering it

Hey, now I can tell people I graduated from an Ivy league school (UBC)!! :-)
But seriously, where did you hear that? I have lots of friends/relatives who graduated from UBC but have never heard it called the "Ivy league of Canada".
