Hey if people want to post their stats here/chance each other you can post on this thread!
Current school: University of Massachusetts Amherst
College GPA: 3.93
I am a current freshman at the university. My high school GPA was a 3.3 so it is lower and my SATs scores are also low, 1830. Do you guys know if SATs are necessary for admission though and how much they care about high school vs college grades.
Typically transfer students get last considerations (ie. date to apply is typically later than other admittance types therefore they get less prioritized). https://www.mcgill.ca/applying/nextsteps/decision
At McGill, grades are the sole basis that they will admit you on so depending on the grade requirements for your program, your most recent grades and GPA will probably be more heavily considered than a high school GPA. Also, in my experience, the GPA requirements for a transfer student from a post-secondary institution are usually lower than that of the GPA of high school students to factor in the difficulty of university (as compared to high school)…
Hey, for everyone that is trying to transfer and has been at a university for less than two years, does your checklist on minerva indicate an upload for a high school transcript? Mine doesn’t, but I hear that admissions will add that on the checklist after an initial review. Just wanted to see if anyone else was wondering the same thing or has a checklist that automatically featured a high school transcript upload.
Hello,
I applied, November 16, and I am still waiting for a response. I am a transfer student because I already have a degree from the University of Ottawa. I graduated, in 2015, with a three year bachelor with minor in Geography. I am applying for the faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Arts. My first choice is Agricultural Sciences because I would like to major in Animal Biology. What do you think my chances are, I hope I get in. I also went to university in the states for a year. They also asked for my high school records as well, I went to CEGEP as well for one session even though I did not need too and my R-Score was around 25 because I tried to apply as a mature student. I took English 69, French 72, Pyschology 74, Sculpture 80, Physical Actvity and Health 88 and, finally World Views 82. BTW, I am hoping to get advanced standing! I am also a Québec resident, I was born in Québec.
Seton Hall University 2.7 CGPA (Pre-Nursing)
University of Ottawa 5.00/10.00 CGPA which is around a B- I think (Graduated with a three year Bachelor of arts with minor in Geography)
High School -83% average
Pre-Calculus- 70%
Physics- 87%
Biology/Living Envrionment- 85%
Chemistry- 70%
I also took AP English and AP US History in high school.
BTW I dont have to submit SAT Scores anymore but I got
ENGLISH SAT 520
SAT FRENCH 600
SAT MATH 510
@wgirl1991 Hello, i am so interesting University of Ottawa. Can you help me? I have bachelor degree, i am now working (about 1 year). My bachelor degree is “information technology”. NOW I’m interested Project manager professional. How am i apply this school. Help me (PS: Sorry for bad english, but i will try my best)
Hi everyone! I was wondering what are my chances of getting in to mcgill for management as a transfer student? My current gpa is 3.6625 and I’m currently in my 3rd semester at baruch college in NYC. I heard baruch is pretty high in the rankings and the grading system at baruch is very tough. Also, I heard mcgill will take students with lower gpa but from a better university rather than take someone with a higher gpa from a lower ranked university as a transfer student. Unlike in USA, A levels are very highly valued in Canada(same in Australia, UK, Europe, Asia etc). I got all A stars and As in my subjects. I applied on October 6th 2016. Is there any chance of me getting in?
Hey everyone… I’ve seen someone mentioning being a freshman and applying as a transfer student… I’m also a freshman and called the office and they told me to apply as an undergrad and later i might get credits… someone knows anything about this?
Yes, you can get credits if the courses you are transferring are deemed equivalent; however, they may only be transferred as electives depending on the program that you are applying to and the amount of electives you are allowed to take (therefore technically you may get more credits transferred but they may not all count towards your degree). They have to evaluate them on a course-by-course basis which they won’t do until after you have accepted your admission offer. Hope that helps.
Have any of you heard back yet? I’m getting super impatient
Nope… I am super anxious also. I have been reading posts and threads like crazy just to see what’s going on for students wanting to transfer.
@wrigh63 this is getting ridiculous
Hi!
I applied as a sophomore transfer from California. It’s already June and my application still says “ready for review” and I’m basically dying inside. I know university transfers are notified last, but does anyone think that’s kind of a scam? Because once they get to university transfers, shouldn’t they have reached their acceptance limit? do they just say “oh well university transfers…tough luck”
Has anyone heard anything by now? My application still says Further Review Required. I’m thinking of calling but I don’t want to be pushy and get rejected because of it (which is stupid lol but I genuinly am scared of that) I’m also really scared of hearing from them too late though since I need to apply for a visa. I did send them two emails and got one very generic reply (they said they would reply by end of june but still haven’t)
Has anyone got their decision? I was waitlisted last Friday, but I’m curious about if they’ll accept transfers until September?
