McGill University

Hi, my definite first choice is McGill, and any comments regarding my chances of admission would be greatly appreciated.

ACT- 32
SAT- 680M 800CR 800W
SATIIs- Literature-750, Biology-M-770
AP tests- Biology-5, Statistics-5, Chemistry-2 (um...yeah.)
GPA- 3.844u, 4.01w
(ranked 32/306u and 12/306w)

I've had a couple of Bs (including one in English) and a B- (for an art class) in my sophomore year, but all A's for my junior year. I have generally taken the most advanced classes offered at my high school.

Also, do you think that I should submit both my ACT and my SATs, or just my ACT? I figure that the 800s are impressive, even if my ACT is the better score.

The SAT certainly wouldn't hurt you. At most colleges if you submit both, they only work with the highest test score. I don't know how McGill runs, but once again your SAT wouldn't hurt and those 800's do always look nice. I'd submit both if I was in your position.

That makes sense...thanks for the response.

Anyone have thoughts on my chances at McGill?

mcgill has a ~56% acceptance rate. what more do you need to know?

You will probably get into McGill. If they have an Early admissions policy, do it.

Though don't be discouraged by Mcgill's high price tag for international students. Quebec students only have to pay $1,600 CDN tuition for the ENTIRE YEAR, while other canadian students pay $3,600 CDN (which still a pretty good deal). Internationals, however, have to endure the harsh tuition of $13,000 not including accomdation and meals.

Again, if you really Mcgill, definitely go for it. Montreal is the second largest city in Canada, and Mcgill has always been the NUMBER-ONE institution in the country (as well as U of T). It's kind of like going to "canada's harvard." By the way, you have great chances at Mcgill. As long as you keep up that GPA, your admission should be guaranteed.

Thanks for the responses (though I'd still warmly welcome any others...I'm a bit insecure).

Being American, $13,000 doesn't sound steep at all compared to most of the universities which I'm considering, but it's amazing how much more expensive it is for American students, vis-à-vis Canadian ones!
