Chances At Mcgill.

hey everybody, i'm new to this forum. i was wondering what my chances are at mcgill university. stats:

35 ACT, 2230 SAT (800R 740M 690 W)
SAT IIs :750 Bio, 670 Physics, 710 US
extracurriculars are pretty numerous, but i heard mcgill doesn't really care about them.

highschool GPA: 3.83 with 7 AP courses so far (after junior year)
5 AP tests: scores are 4, 4, 5 ,5, 5

comments please.

easy
u r probably going to get in

lemur... you will definitely get in. I am from Canada and i can tell you McGill is not even the best univ here. 1)Univ. of toronto 2)UBC 3)McGill.. i do not understand what the big deal with McGill is in the states. With your stats , you are better off applying to a top US univ.

that may be true. i am also applying to Duke University (my brother went there, i have legacy), Wash U, Northwestern, Upenn, UIUC, and UVA. The reason i am applying to Mcgill is that the THES rating system gave it #1 for best public university in north america, (12th in the world,) it is so inexpensive compared to US schools, and the fact that it is superb for biological sciences and medicine. The fact that the school is located in Montreal helps the choice to apply there as well.

sounds good... all i am saying is that .. if you are applying to McGill might as well look at other better Canadian univ. Same price.. better education.. but less prestige in the States... for some ODD reason.

Mcgill was rated as the best canadian institution from many sources i looked at...

lol which ones... anyway look at the global rankings. univ. of toronto appears top 25 in almost all of them while McGill is usually between 50-70. just trying to give you good honest advice.

i would throw Queen's into the mix but Lemur, Shad is right. mcgill is a fine school but you need to look at other top universities in Canada, some of which are better than mcgill.

prestige is very important these days in the states. im from Canada and ive been to UT, its not a good study environment. is overflowed with foreign students as in not from NA. Mcgill is less prestigious in Canada but way more so in the states. before i moved here, there was a good friend who chose McGill over waterloo and UT because of that reason which i thought was obscure at the time.

that's simply not true...
McGill ranks highest in the THES global ranking and Maclean's national rankings whereas UofT ranks higher in the Shanghai global rankings. But again it depends on what you want to study, if it's biological sciences, then definitely McGill, if it's business and most social sciences, then stay away... UofT and Waterloo are arguably better engineering schools other than that McGill is a fine choice and even though I never attended, my sister just chose it over Northwestern and Virginia. :)

If you are going into bio sciences, go Mcgill...if it was business however, that's another story
O and to the people saying "you're in", I'm not saying you're wrong, but consider he's international so it harder for him than Canadians. There's always a chance

UWO is also a good business school and is on par with UoT but is hardly mentioned here. Ivey, its business school ranked number two on one of the good ranking sites' b-school outside of US rankings. THER or businessweek, one of those two rankings

I'm looking there too and I WISH I had your resume, you should get in no problem
