MCS workload?

Hello everyone,

I have submitted my deposit for MCS, though based on what I hear about CMU as a whole, I am ultimately feeling pretty nervous about the workload, and would like to hear some feedback about the current workload for MCS.

I have been a perfectionist throughout high school, and would ultimately like to chase degrees in Physics and Computer Science. I know this is a lot of work (and a lot is an understatement), so this is probably where I’ll have to grow out of my overachiever mindset. I’m willing to work as hard as possible in order to achieve my goals, but if MCS is its whole separate ordeal, then I’ll be better prepared to temper my expectations for myself and my future.

If you currently attend, I’d love to hear about your experiences!

(Also, I’m taking 6 ap exams this year that I hope to use for credit: Lit, Spanish, Bio, Calc BC, Chem, Computer Science, and both physics C’s, but as an impending physics major, I probably won’t use the physics credit. So far feel like I’m on the 4/5 border for all the ones I’ve taken)

(I am well aware about the “bottomless descent into nothingness” that is the School of Computer Science, and I use quotations because that was the word choice of a current student over there)

Just don’t play league of legends all day like my first roommate, and you should be fine in terms of workload.

If you understand the physics, I’d say to use the AP credit for both, and definitely for physics 1 if possible.
