I remember seeing a computational finance major under MCS. How competitive is it to get into? Can one go into I-Banking with that major?

extremely competitive, about 10 graduates per year. The major is designed for going into I-Banking

That's just grand [10 graduates per year... shoot me]. I want to do that. Hahaha. What do they look for in the applicants then? Good GPA in econ courses and math??

Yea unfortunately it's tough and they want to keep it elite, but it just about gives them like a 100% hiring rate...

So I have a Math Major friend who just got into the program this year. He was on the math honors track meaning Analysis Freshman year and Math Studies Sophomore year. Math Studies is a 20 unit, very rigorous, accelerated math course and there's only about 15 students per year.

He did well in them, so that allowed him to get in easily. But it's clearly not easy to do well in those courses.

I'm not sure what other kind of candidates they interview, but the interviewing panel includes a professor from Tepper, Math, and Heinz (Management and Public Policy).

I have heard a rumor that Tepper wants to start up it's own Undergrad Comp Finance program, which would be significantly less math heavy, which would dilute the quality of the existing program.
