Meal Plan Recommendations

Hello, I just wanted to ask a current USF student what they would recommend for a meal plan. I'll be a freshman next year, so I have to get one. I don't have any special requirements for my food....not a picky eater at all, but I just drink a lot of coffee a day (and I mean a LOT).

I looked at the meal plan pricing at Welcome to CampusDish at the University of South Florida! , and I have to say that those prices are really close together...the one for unlimited is only $50 more than the 15 meals a week one, and considering it's already $1850, I suppose an extra $50 is pocket change compared to those figures. However, I was told that people get sick of eating at those dining halls a lot, is that true? I see that the the $325 dining dollars that come with the 15 meals plan won't last long, according to the prices at Welcome to CampusDish at the University of South Florida! . Not to mention I'll probably spend all that money on coffee anyways (or is it included with breakfast?).

You have to get one as a freshman, that sucks. There are so many places to eat for really cheap very near the campus.

I think the unlimited plan makes the most sense. Just because you can eat all you want doesn’t mean you have to eat like a pig–if you don’t use every meal you are still ahead of the game. The little extra cash credit with other plans offering fewer meals isn’t too much of an incentive over the the unlimited. The food is good; too, if you just want to get an apple or banana or some cookies or a sandwich or a slice of cake and a cup of coffee, you can do that all you want when you stop by any meal hall. Bottomless cups for all drinks, and all the food you want to eat with the unlimited plan.

one of my roommates chose to go with unlimited because it was only $50 more than the 15/week one so it’s a good choice.
I chose to go with the cheapest one which I kind of regret because it averaged to about 5-6 meals per week…and I eat…a lot!
but yea, I just got people to swipe for me (my roommate included) and plus my mom lives like 15 minutes from the school so it’s not like I starved. But having unlimited would have helped me sooo much, so if you like to eat…or drink a lot of coffee like you said, then go with unlimited.
sucks we HAVE to get them the first year though because the prices are ridiculous.

hope I helped :)

I heard that if you have unlimited, you can’t swipe people in-- it comes out of your bull bucks. so that sucks. they do have coffee in the dining halls-- at least the new ones (like j-pop), because I saw it for myself, lol :)

you’re right tampacutie, for people with unlimited, swiping for others does come out of your dining dollars. So usually I just borrow my roommates id because we kind of look alike (and even if we didn’t no one really looks…because I’ve used a guy’s id before and got in…and I DON’T look like a guy! :D)
my other friend has the any 15 and she eats like once a day (which i’ll never understand) so she swipes me in too. with any 15, swiping others in doesn’t come out of your dining dollars
