My S got into Brown ED and today a large packet came with many forms to fill out-health, housing questionaire and meal plan application. For all of you current Brown students, which meal plan do you recommend taking for a freshman? Also, is there anything else a new student should know about housing, the questionaire, moving in etc?? We will be attending ADOCH next week (S is staying with a friend’s S who is currently a freshman) but I thought I would ask current students about any department, building, thing to check out while in Providence…anything info you think is important, any place to visit, any thing we should know before we are there would be appreciated.

Id suggest the 20 meal per week plan... The 14 is only about 200 cheaper (or was in my year), and the extra meal helps since there are places you can use your meal credits at besides the dining halls.. Places like the gate, or jo's, where you can pick up burgers, pizza, etc using meal credits.. The extra meal a day is worth it...

There are changes to the meal plan that have not yet been announced. Pretty much any information we can give you now will not be relevant in the fall. As it stands now, next year there will be 10 different meal plans instead of 3.

Will the meal plans scale better (ie, not be a ripoff if you get less than 20/week) and be more flexible?

That is the general idea.

Details haven't been published yet, so I really can't tell you any specifics.
