meal plans?

Any advice about meal plans for incoming freshmen? S is an athlete and will want lots of food!

Also, do all dorms have self-serve laundry facilities? Thanks!

Normally we'd say Liberty (or the lowest number of meals) but if your kid is a real athlete (football, for example) he'll be eating with his team before or after practice every day and may find one of the other plans more useful. (The football and basketball players are the only people you'll see in the dining hall every day at all hours).

All of the dorms have laundry rooms.

not to invade the thread but i have a related question..when you run out of meals i assume you can still pay for meals using the dining dollars? if so, are the meals more expensive when purchased with dining dollars?

Liberty is the best choice.

I've never heard of anyone running out of meals. Ever. EVER. Regardless of plan. You'd run out of dining dollars long before you run out of meals.

(But yes, you can pay for them with dining dollars, or cash, or student bill, or PennCash (a lower price than cash even though its basically cash))

While athletes are really the only people who should consider a plan other than Liberty, many athletes I know can't even finish the meals on it. Evening practices usually interfere with the hours that the dining halls are open for dinner, limiting players to off-campus or retail dining choices. Pick Liberty. I've never heard of a single person who regretted it.

Can anyone please list the establishments where one can use "dining dollars?" I'm guessing there has to be a lot of good places on the list, considering everyone wants to maximize their dining dollars.

wharton4life I'm pretty sure that dining dollars can be used everywhere except for the food carts that are on the street

does that include places on the periphery of the campus, such as the wawa?

dining dollars are usable at any on-campus location (au bon pain, various cafes), and savory, the little restaurant on spruce between 37th + 38th.

unfortunately, this does not include wawa (and you can feel free to join the facebook group for penn students who wish we could use dining dollars there)
