Mechanical Engineer hoping to enter aerospace

Hello,

I am currently an undergraduate student at UC Berkeley pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Berkeley does not offer a degree in Aerospace Engineering as we do not have an aerospace engineering department nor many aerospace-specific courses. What kind of classes should I take (in ME, EE, materials science, math, etc.) for me to be more prepared and marketable for a career in aerospace?

Aerospace is a huge field. Do you have a sense yet of what you want to do in that industry?

@boneh3ad I’m not entirely sure yet. I’m mostly interested in aerodynamics and structures, and I would like to explore systems/controls.

Well you will do essentially the same amount of structures and controls in mechanical engineering as you would in aerospace engineering. If you want to explore aerodynamics a bit more, then just take a compressible flow class and maybe a viscous flow class as electives, and fill in other electives with more aerodynamics or controls or structures type courses as your interests develop.
