Mechanical Engineer wanting to go into green energy industry.

I want to go into renewable energy (not sure which sector yet) and I am pursing a mechanical engineering degree. I have room to take another minor and I am guessing it is more beneficial to do an electrical engineering minor than a computer science minor, but I just wanted to get second thoughts on that. Also, I am more interested in the electrical engineering minor classes than CS. So should I minor in EE and not CS? (am pursuing a climate impacts engineering minor too but that courseload is very light and just doing that for a break and also because it is interesting)

Also, I have heard that there is a need for MechE in green energy industry, is that right? I am very interested in MechE and I am going to get a concentration in energy?

Why do you need a minor for this?

It is more beneficial to be a better prepared MechE.

Think back to your high school days. Your high school probably required only 2 years of math to get a diploma. That left you with room to take more music classes!!! Do you think you would have been admitted to engineering school with only two years of math? Of course not!

Well, the competition for the best engineering jobs is probably more intense than for colleges. The Boeings, etc. of the world have only so many job openings and they take the best prepared applicants. Pick a career path and get yourself as ready as possible for that specific career.
