Is it true that the acceptance rate for international students is lower compared to that of US citizens? If so, how much harder. As of now, my cumulative GPA is around 3.5. I'm attending UCI and plan to go to med school there. Is there any chance that I'll get accepted if my MCAT is also decent?
Thanks in advance I'm new here :D

It’s not just lower…it’s MUCH, MUCH lower.

The purpose of American med schools is to educate AMERICANS.

Do you know if UCI even accepts any int’l students for med school? Many publics don’t accept any…or only will accept Canadians or 1-2 int’ls.

Someone once posted a link that showed which med schools accepted int’ls (nonCanadians) and the numbers of accepted in’tls were low.

What is your science GPA?

It seemed like the consensus was that for an int’l to get accepted, he must have spectacular stats and a hook.

looks like UCI does not accept int’ls.

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, IRVINE COLLEGE OF MEDICINE

Canadian students are considered international students. Noncitizens without permanent residency are admitted only if they have been granted, or are eligible for, political asylum.

UCI doesn’t even want to accept non Californians, let alone internationals.

At the schools that will accept a few int’ls…someone mentioned that the int’ls have to show funding for all 4 years.
