What are some medical conditions that disqualify you from the academy? I have asthma and i know it might disqualify me. I have gotten rid of it once, but it came back. If i can fight it off again by the time it comes for me to start applying, can i still get in?

A diagnosis of "Asthma/reactive airway disease/exercise induced bronchospasm after age 13" will result in a DODMERB disqualification.

However, waivers are granted for this and many other conditions. Don't let the fear of a DQ stop your quest. Each academy has great leeway in deciding waivers.

My eyesight is possibly the worst on the planet (even with glasses it stinks), so I was DQ'd. Made some phone calls, got a waiver going, and was found qualified less than a month later.

It's really a measure of how badly you want to get in. If you can get tests and doctors' notes to prove your asthma won't be an issue, there's a good chance it will be waived. Not saying it's a guarantee, but certainly worth trying.
