Does anyone know if any kids doing the pre-med route at ND get into med schools like Johns Hopkins, Harvard, Stanford, or Duke? Thanks

The quick answer is yes. I have the pre-med statistics sheet around here somewhere...I'll post specifics when I find it. The link isn't up online, but if you want your own copy, you can send an e-mail off to one of the pre-med advisors- that's what I did and they were very helpful.

thanks shellzie

you're going to nd next year right?

I think i'm going to do the biology route

Let me know if yo ucan't find it shellzie and I can ask around. Thanks for helping with this.

Hey guys, sorry it took me so long. I did find the info sheet though, a basic summary of which follows:

(Data is taken from past 4 years)
Overall first-application acceptance rate: 77%
Acceptance rate for applicants with >avg GPA: 91%
Acceptance rates for the following GPA ranges:
4.00-3.50: 97%
3.49-3.25: 68%
3.24-3.00: 24%
2.99-2.50: 12%

Avg MCAT: 30.0

Some of the top medical schools that recent ND grads have attended (or been accepted to): Harvard, JHU, Duke, UPenn, Yale, UChicago, Columbia, Cornell, Stanford, Michigan, WUSTL, UCLA, Tulane, Northwestern, Minnesota, U of Rochester, Vanderbilt, NYU, Dartmouth, UCSD, UW- Madison, Georgetown.

The list goes on, but you get the idea. It seems a LOT of people go on to Georgetown and the Indiana School of Medicine. Other popular schools are Loyola-Stritch University School of Medicine (in Chicago), Ohio State, and Tulane.

Also, this is probably completely irrelevant now, but the 1997 Gourman Report ranked ND's pre-med program 12th, just below Chicago, and just above Princeton. The sheet also notes that ND ranks in the top 10-15 in all rankings of premedical programs (out of 1,200 colleges and universities).

That's pretty much it, let me know if you want the numbers for any specific medical school. The sheet also has info on dental school if anyone is interested.

@ Irishgold- yep, I'm going to ND next year :). I plan on doing biochemistry.
