does Virginia have a medical program for undergrads that gives you guranteed admission into the school's medical school? It's similar to Washington University at St. Louis's University scholars program.

No, it doesn't. In Virginia, only VCU has a BA/MD program.

Really! My Dad graduated from MCV for medical school. Most alumni of MCV don't like the VCU name attached to it. IMO, VCU isn't an undergraduate school that can stand with the likes of UVA, or Va Tech.
I just never looked at VCU and was shocked that they have a BA/MD program. Still wouldn't have gone there though for undergraduate school. MCV is a good medical school though, IMHO.

heh, I considered applying, mostly because they throw money at their E school students. In the end I didn't like the caliber of student and location of the school. But seriously, full rides to their E school are really common, I have a friend that had a couple of 'lazy C's' on his report card in math classes, but had great EC's/SAT's. Got a full ride from the EE department. I think he lost it though because he failed calc.

I also know a guy that went there who was something like ranked 3 in our class (out of 450, tough to do at our school). He got a full ride, and is going to Stanford for his PhD in some sort of engineering.

Its not all bad, but those were exceptional kids, by far not the norm there. Its not on the same level as UVa or Tech for anything really.

Scorpio, its a similar program but not a similar institution. WashU is a fantastic school, VCU is ok. Grant it, you would be guaranteed med school admission to a great med school, so it might be worth it. I would check it out, you might like it.

The VCU program is likely in place to attract applicants who otherwise would never, ever consider VCU. It's a good deal for the right kind of applicant: someone looking for lots of merit money and a guaranteed acceptance at a good medical school.

VCU/MCV is an EXCELLENT medical college. I know a current second-year in the bio engineering department and a girl in the pharmacy grad program, and both say their programs are rigorous, but very rewarding and are opening them to lots of opportunities. VCU isn't the greatest school in VA, but if I were interested in med school and wanted to do it for sure, I think I would highly consider VCU/MCV's program. The only downside is living in Richmond haha. Some people love it, but some people hate the city, and Richmond is a 'dirty south' city. If you are turned off by Richmond, I suggest doing UVA pre-med then going to med school somewhere you'd want to spend a few years at (I'd do Florida man, no lie haha)
