Hey I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find statistics on medical school acceptance after wellesley (data with what med schools wellesley graduates attended and how many were accepted, etc etc)
thx

I think you'll find W grads get into virtually any of the med schools. Perhaps, though, you could talk with a few physicians and hear how med schools choose candidates...totally different system than applying for undergraduate school. If you have the appropriate grades for med school and have nurtured your professor relationships along the way, when you graduate from Wellesley there will be a LOT of people helping you get into a med school. 20%+ of grads going on to med school is a very large proportion of undergrads from ANY college and is a telling statistic about W. Good luck!

SG, I pretty certain that 20 percent of undergrads going to Med school is not what that chart says or means. Of those going to grad school directly from the 2006 W Class, 23.6 percent are going to Med school. Still impressive but not nearly the same thing.

Fig, Medical School acceptance is such a complicated issue and involves many factors, but if you're worried about either the premed education at Wellesley or the reputation of Wellesley among the medical schools, let me lay your fears to rest. Wellesley is well known and well regarded by the medical schools.

"...20%+ of grads going on to med school is a very large proportion of undergrads..."

Mea culpa TD, you're correct...should have read..."20%+ of UNDERgrads WHO GO on to GRAD SCHOOL AND ATTEND med school is a very large proportion of undergrads..."

Also, since we're parsing here, "very large" could have been less dramatic with use of "significant".

BTW, looks like the Wellesley deposit gets mailed tomorrow. Just heard D state in a brief burst of fury, "...can't wait to get to W so I can get away from the chore list..." Also heard confirmation of her decision in a kinder/gentler tone last evening while we were attending an excellent production of Street Car Named Desire at Wheaton College.

Oh well, going back to writing contracts & reports today to catch up from the college visit and escape the college minutiae for a spell! (can you spell "boring"?)
