I had to medically withdraw from school at the start of spring semester in my freshman year. Followed the protocol as instructed by the school. After having seversl surgeries and going through rehab I attempted to obtain my transcripts and was told that I couldn’t without paying my full tuition. I was on academic and athletic scholarships and I did not have any student loans. Can someone tell me if this is legal? I should be going into my jr year of school but I cant get my transcripts.
You need to contact your school and find out why you are considered to owe them that money. They are the only people who can explain things to you.
Yes I have been reaching to them and I have traveled 6hrs to the school gor assistance. I was yold my the vp of admissions it was no fee however the business office says there is a fee but no one has been able to explain to me why. As I was told a Medical withdrawal was significantly different than just withdrawing from school.
But thank you so much for responding I will continue to try.
Wish me luck!
Print out any billing statements from your online portal, and go through them line by line so that you underatand what is currently there. You might need to have a joint meeting with the dean and the business office. Maybe you can do that by skype and acoid the travel.
Wishing you luck with this!
You should definitely contact one of the Deans and seek clarity. I know withdrawals impact loans but not sure about scholarships. You definitely would be charged a prorated amount if you withdrew during the recommended timeframe. You stated beginning of spring semester so I assume it was early enough to meet that criterion.
Who had to sign off on your medical withdrawal? Dean or Provost? I would include all in email to attempt to resolve.
