mediocre GPA and good college?

I'm just curious: How may people have gotten ok grades (under 3.9 UW) and still get into top school?

How is under a 3.9 mediocre?

A 3.9 UW around 97%. A 3.85 UW can be a 98% at my school. How is that mediocre?

A 98% is MEDIOCRE? What damn world do you live? Your world is a utopia which is pretty much impossible.

Let

A=4
B=3
C=2
D=1
F=0

A=95-100
B=94-88
C=87-81
D=80-75

Lets assume the person has 7 classes. The amount most kids take. Now let 6 of those equal to 99% and one to 94%. Divide that by 7. What do you get?

That is a 3.85UW. I think plenty of people have gotten to many top schools assuming you attend a good challenging school.

3.8 is mediocre? Remember, your GPA means nothing without context. The classes you take, your class rank, your SATs, and your school profile all give meaning to your GPA. There are kids with bellow a 3.9 gpa that have gotten into top 20 colleges. But what do you mean by a top school? Are we talking USNWR's top 10 colleges, HYPSM, Ivys and Ivy like colleges? Do we include top public colleges (where lots of kids with 3.7s in state have gotten in)?

What school do you go to? At my school:
90< A
80< B
70< C
60< F

Do you mean a 3.9 weighted, because that is a hell of a lot different than a 3.9 unweighted? 3.9 unweighted is like one B a year.

^^ not even...

It's like CC is breeding a group of super overachievers that flip a **** if they get a 99%. Anyone w/ a 3.999 is automatically sent to community college because they just suck that much.

Ok nm, I guess miscalculated. What i meant was any with <3.8 UW, <4.1 W
