Memorial Sloan-Kettering HOPP Program - Summer 2018

Was there anyone unable to make it ? This seems weird that mostly everyone is being accepted. I just want to know if they actually looked at our applications.

May be a way to buy more time?

My son received the same email.

I also got the email. So does this mean that acceptance emails are coming out on the 26th?

That’s weird. I hope this is legitimate.

Do most people get past the 2nd phase?

I have a friend who did not make it past the first round, so they must have some method of initial screening @Hopharv @9JAGALoYekeBrown

Yea I made it to second round as well, and I have a friend that didn’t make it last year, and a different friend that didn’t make it this year, so there has to be some thing they’re screening

@FrenchHorn240 RIP “a different friend”

lmaoooo

How selective is the program and do you know how important prior research is for the program?

@weij98 this is one of the more selective internships available to high school students interested in STEM, and arguably the most selective for specifically cancer research. With that being said, I don’t necessarily think they are looking for prior research (although it certainly helps) but rather the potential that you offer to a lab setting, and the passion for cancer research that you have as demonstrated in your essays.

@japadorean No, I think it’s to determine who gets to the final round, as May 7th would be the final acceptance.

@FrenchHorn240 Goooooood, I agree. David Wang, an experienced admissions expert, also agrees. YEAH WANG!

YEAH WAAANG

I agree. Hopefully the final round acceptances will turn out well.

Also, before I forget:

YEAHHH DAVIIDDDD WANNGGG!!!

There are at least 10 of us here who are advancing to second round. If they only take around 20, I wonder how many advanced to 2nd round.

Hello, My Son moved to the second round on April 13th as well. We are not from NYC.We Desperately need information/ A Host family (I will pay ofcourse) to host my 15 year old son, if he does make it to the final round.
He was rejected from Cosmos and Accepted at UMASS 6 week intensive research.

Still haven’t heard anything - has anyone heard about getting into the second round yet? Do they send rejection notifications too or just acceptances? Thanks
