My S was accepted to both ND (pre approved for Mendoza) and as a direct admit to Farmers at Miami of OH with a decent scholarship. We are not counting on much financial help from ND. We would love to hear some opinions as to if having an undergraduate degree from Mendoza is worth passing up the scholarship from Miami? Or should he wait and try to get into Mendoza for graduate school? Thanks
This is a very individual question, I think. My D (not a business major) also had a large scholarship offer at Miami, but chose Notre Dame. Their financial aid was very generous, so you may be surprised. (We had a “ceiling” for what I could afford, and she would have gone elsewhere if the FA didn’t work out.)
In the end, the question really I think is what you are comfortable with paying. Has your son visited both schools? Is ND affordable without aid?
Both business schools are excellent, as you know. There’s something special about ND though.
I would second what @suzy100 had to say. Figure out what you are comfortable with and see what ND gives you. You might be surprised!
Also, my son is a senior in Mendoza. As one of the highest ranked undergraduate business schools, it works hard to live up to that reputation. Not only has he been challenged academically, but he has had no difficulty in obtaining great internships in the summer. Chicago, and Indianapolis are great cities to get jobs, as well as NYC, and other major metropolises. And, he had 2 great job offers by October of senior year! The school works hard to make sure its students are able to excel and the national alumni network helps that too!
While Miami has an excellent business school, I’m not sure about the internship opportunities - maybe, in Cincinnati or Cleveland? I’m guessing Columbus businesses recruit from Ohio State, though I may be wrong.
