Merit Aid Guess-timate

Can any parent tell me what I might expect in Merit Aid:
Child applied to SIS.

96% GPA unweighted.
Top 4% of Class
SAT 670M, 790R
ACT 34

EC’s, References, Etc all fantastic.

Tuition/Room/Board will cost $45,000/Year at American, My “EFC” is about $36,000.

Anyone can weigh in on what they think I will see in Merit, if any?
Also, can anyone compare/contrast what they think she might get from GW?

For what its worth, my freshman D got a $20K/yr. merit award with similar SAT’s and a lower GPA and class ranking.

I don’t know exactly what the number is for GW but I do know this:

The highest academic award at GWU is the Presidential Academic Scholarship, which only covers partial tuition at GWU – it says so on their financial aid website.

The Presidential Award at AU is between 27K and all of the 36K of tuition, and usually (but not always) denotes acceptance into the Honors program. Also it is not the end to merit aid – once she declares and gets into the department, she’ll be up for more department specific scholarships.

Also – I saw your other post on sororities for Washington and Lee – if your daughter has any questions about what sorority would be right for a girl like her (because we sound the same) send me a message :)
