Hi, I was admitted back in December and have not received any form of merit aid yet. I have gotten need-based aid in my award letter online but have not received anything in terms of merit scholarships or aid. I was hoping I would get the University Achievement Scholarship but now I'm beginning to doubt that I'll be getting it. If I don't get it will I be able to get it as a sophomore? Should I call financial aid? Should I keep waiting? My states are: 2190 SAT & 3.8w GPA.

You probably will not receive any merit aid. The U of I awards a limited amount of merit aid every year, and it usually only amounts to $1,000 (every little bit helps, I know, but this amount usually will not be the deciding factor as to whether or not a student will be able to attend the university).

I have a 34 ACT and a 5.8/5.0 GPA, and I did not receive merit aid. The only aid from the U of I that I have received is $500 from the chancellor’s scholar program. Most, if not all, of the merit awards have already been handed out; if you had received one, you would have seen the award in your financial aid letter.
