Merit / Fin Aid

Hi,

My son received the admission info packet in the mail yesterday. It does not have any info about Merit Aid or Fin Aid. It does talk about FAFSA timelines etc. Does anyone know when Chapman decides on Merit / Fin Aid? Does the info show on WebAdvisor or is it mail only? Did anyone hear about their aid?

Thanks
Ravi

My son just got a Dean's Scholarship award letter in the mail today. ($12,000/renewable). Hope that helps.

Hi,

I received my admission packet about two weeks ago I would say? But today I got a letter offering me a renewable $18000 a year for four years scholarship. I'm guessing your son's will follow in a few weeks maybe more.

D rec'd scholarship in the mail today - Chancellor's 18K renewable for 4 years. She's thrilled! BTW acceptance was updated online 1/9 and rec'd admissions envelope approx 1/16. Best of luck to all of you.

hmm, could we maybe start a stats thread for scholarships, since chapman is so generous with them?

sorry to double post, but i am so excited! i got the mail a couple hours ago--i got the presidential scholarship. $23,000 per year!

accepted 1/13 and got the letter 1/17. letter's postmarked 2/2.

I received the Presidential Scholarship also! $23,000 a year! YES! :)

Omigosh congratulations guys! :) What were stats?

I'm still waiting for mine, received my admissions letter 1/17...hopefully it's coming soon!

Lots of ECs, 90% of which are theatre related

I just got my merit award letter today, presidential

i had 2070 on the sat and 31 on the act

I got the Dean's scholarship....27 act 3.5w gpa

Hey, so I haven't received any sort of info in the mail from Chapman, so I emailed them and this was the response:

"We will not be downloading FAFSAs for new students until later this month. Our priority deadline for FAFSA filing was 3/02/09, so we would not have processed any new aid prior to that deadline. Once we are ready to begin packaging, we will download your FAFSA from the Department of Education directly, you do not need to send us your SAR. Your financial aid package is estimated to come 1-3 weeks after you file your FAFSA or after the priority deadline whichever is later. You can expect to receive your package by early April."

Um...so does this mean I didn't get a merit scholarship?

Other than the scholarships that have been handed out, has anyone received info regarding financial aid/grants?

If you get a merit scholarship, they usually arrive by mail about 1-2 weeks after acceptance.

Financial Aid packets come out closer to April 1st.

I actually got my acceptance letter and scholarship/merit award in the same envelope (3/03). I guess as it is drawing so close to April 1, they are starting to make these decisions together.

Financial aid, I expect, will come on or around April 1.

I read that the cost with room and board and books is close to 47,000. Neither the Presidential nor Dean scholarships will go far towards that bill.

Does anyone expect to get 100% covered?

Is there more financial aid? These scholarships won't cover the cost of books and room and board.

funfun- are you asking if people get full rides? Most likely not. I haven't heard of anyone getting a full ride at Chapman. And I believe that the Presidential and the Dean scholarships are the highest paying scholarships available for Chapman.
