My daughter was accepted to Chapman EA - she received her packet about 4 days ago. I am wondering if she will get any kind of merit aid.

She has a 3.5 GPA and a 25 composite on the ACT.
Her major will be Spanish.

Since applying my husband lost his job and we also have another child in college.
I saw some kids with similar stats got some aid but it seems they were all in the film school.

I have pretty much the EXACT same stats…and I didn’t get any merit aid info in my acceptance packet.
Good luck, we’re crossing our fingers for some aid here too!

When I got merit aid, it came in the acceptance packet. (I posted this on another thread). I don’t know how it works if someone were to deny Chapman University - perhaps they give it to someone else, which could happen for you.

With the acceptance packet, there was some financial aid guide and it listed three Merit scholarships: Presidents($22-25K/yr), Chancellors($15-20K/yr), and Deans($12-15K/yr).

Hope that puts it in perspective; also check the thread for people who received Deans b/c your daughter might get it for Deans (I personally don’t know the stats though)

2 years ago my son received a Chancellor’s scholarship for $18.0/yr…his stats were ACT 31, GPA 3.8…

The merit award did not come in the acceptance packet…it came about a week later in a regular business envelope…don’t know if they have changed things up this year about sending merit awards with the packets…last year I believe they came seperately too.

Have you tried to look at any Merit Aid sites, like meritaid.com? That let’s you search by college to find out what type of merit aid scholarships they offer. Good luck to you and your daughter in the search!
