Has anyone had a child go to Wheaton and receive extra/enhanced consideration for merit/scholarship money for playing a sport? I know in some colleges, coaches will push admissions for players that they really want on the team to receive scholarship money that they would normally not qualify for.

Anyone have first hand experience with this? Amounts?

Hey - My name is Mike Yager. I work in our admission office here at Wheaton and I can let you know that there is not extra/enhanced consideration for merit scholarship by playing a sport. Division 3 programs are prohibited from giving athletic scholarships. We base our merit scholarships on the overall strength of a students application. The biggest consideration in our review of applications is the students transcript and how they have performed in the classroom during their four (or more) years in high school. Our merit scholarship amounts are currently $17,500, $15,000, and $10,000 per academic year. I hope this helps - please let me know if you have other questions.
