Does anyone know how merit scholarship notification works? If you got one would it be in your acceptance package, a financial aid letter, or a separate letter? What if you didn't apply for financial aid? Thanks for any help.

bump, I would like to know this too

There are no “merit scholarships” this year. If you got a need-based extra scholarship, it will show up as “University Endowed Scholarship” on your financial aid offer.

^ when I called back in February the lady told me as long as they had my FAFSA, I would be eligible for a merit scholarship, and she even checked to make sure and everything.

OK, my son received the Presidential scholarship in a separate financial aid award letter arriving the same day as his BIG package. The description in the body of the letter is that of a merit scholarship. It shows on his financial aid statement under the heading of Carnegie Scholarship. However, everytime I mention it a flurry of people tell me that it did not happen. So, I guess there is merit and there is not merit depending on who you speak to.

Did they give you a number for the merit scholarship? I know they do offer a few to the best candidates.

What do you mean by a number? An amount? It is 6050.00 and then we are supposed to send in his other offers and they may re-evaluate the amount. We will give it a try!

Thanks mumof2boyz. Congrats for the scholarship!
