Merit Scholarship Updates?

My son applied to OU early in the fall and was accepted. Will we be waiting until January for any word on merit scholarships? Their website says that some scholarship letters will start being mailed in December on a rolling basis, but I am wondering what has been the experience for CC community members. Scholarship info from his other main university will be announced starting in January, but I was just wondering if we might hear from OU first. Good luck to all!

I wish I could remember the dates from last year. It seems our D16 received her signature scholarship award before January but I don’t remember for sure. She received the Signature Scholarship award first then other smaller scholarships along with her financial aid package. I don’t know whether things might change due to filing the FAFSA sooner or not. Our D really likes OU. Good luck.

Thank you! We will keep our fingers crossed. Did you do any of the spring campus tours for admitted students? Also, what is your daughter’s major?

We did not do any spring tours. It was her first choice over Miami U, OSU, and Purdue. She is a dual degree student studying Dance (BA) and Exercise Physiology.

HI I just went back to check and it seems that we received our merit letter in December last year. It was nice to have a good sense of finances (we don’t qualify for FA) before the holidays. We did go to one of the spring campus (in March) and it was actually the first time my son saw the campus. He loved it from the first 5 minutes and is now a deliriously happy Bobcat (while he is enjoying Thanksgiving at home he is constantly mentioning his plans for next week when he is back in Athens!).

Thank you, zipstermom. I’m glad to know we may have some news (hopefully good news!) in the near future. We are in Washington State, so the expense of a trip to Athens will depend upon whatever scholarship package he might be offered (FA won’t be in the cards for us). I’ve heard wonderful things about the campus’s beauty and the business school’s reputation, so I hope we have the opportunity to see it all!

Glad your son is so happy at the university of his choice! Same to you, Ivvcsf, regarding your daughter attending her first choice! That’s certainly every parent’s dream!!

Letter with S’s Signature Award arrived in today’s mail, so hopefully you will hear something soon. We are in PA so Mail transit time likely 1-3 days sooner than WA.

My son’s letter came, too. He was given a nice offer, but the OOS overall cost is just too much to compete with the scholarships he’s been offered at one of our in-state schools. He is happy to have the news now and excited about where he’ll be going next year. It all worked out! Best of luck to your son!

I just got my letter the other day. Was given 14K a year through different merit scholarships and am now just waiting on an HTC update.
