Merit Scholarships Depending on Which School

During the Facebook talk this week by Ron Jankowski, he said that merit scholarship awards can be affected by which school you are admitted to. I know that the stats for the students accepted into SSOE are the highest of the four - but does that mean those students have a better chance of a merit scholarship, or less, since it would be more competitive?

There are additional school-specific merit awards - maybe that was what his comment meant. My dd receives one in addition to the UHC one.

Hello, @NJEngineer3,

He means that the scholarship process is a bit more competitive for engineering students. Feel free to reach out to our office (or come by for an information session: oafa.pitt.edu/visit) if you have any questions about the scholarship process or anything else: 412-624-7488 or oafa@pitt.edu.

Best of luck!

I think you have it backwards. Since engineering is the most competitive college, it would also be the most competitive for scholarships. So colleges with lower overall stats would be more lenient with stats for scholarships. I have heard of engineering specific scholarships at Pitt but I would imagine those are hard to get too as engineering has the highest average stats just to get accepted.
