how big can one expect merit scholarships to be, for most people? there's probably a huge range, but i'm wondering if i could expect any merit aid with sats of 1390/2070, gpa of 96.5, rank of 6/150..

otherwise, i don't think my parents will pay to go here, and i certainly can't come up with $45,000+.

:

US News premium says that 10% of NYU students get merit awards, average is ~$7,000.

remember also, that merit scholarships usually hinge on a minimum GPA, and sometimes these gpa's are not easy to obtain. My daughter had a Stern scholarship that requires a 3.5 to renew. So basically, you could be up the creek after your first year.

I personally don't think a 3.5 GPA should be hard to reach, no matter your course of study. However, if you have to work to support yourself or have personal or mental health issues crop up, then it's another story.

seeing as an A- is a 3.7, I would think that it might be at least somewhat difficult... is it pretty easy to get As at NYU?
