Messed up first semester of junior year...

I piled way more than I could handle onto my plate :/ Too many extracurriculars on top of a packed schedule - AP US History, AP English, AP Calculus BC, AP Physics B, Mandarin 4, and ASB. I've never been good at calculus, so it wasn't that surprising when I found out I wasn't so great at physics (not to mention the teacher is hated by everyone for multiple reasons I won't mention). And of course I would get the two hardest APUSH and APENG teachers (they're great though and I love them). I had a really rough time transitioning into junior year, and fell behind on my classwork when I went to a 5-day conference for education reform. I've barely been getting any sleep... and it was just a HUGE destructive cycle of being tired and being behind in my classes. Grades have not come out yet, but my worst case scenario is:

AP English - A
Mandarin 4 - A
ASB - A
AP Physics B - B
AP US History - B
AP Calc BC - C

and my best case scenario would be: A A A A B B respectively.

However, based on the difficulty of my finals, the worst case scenario is much more likely to occur...

Before this, I've gotten straight A's/A+'s both freshman and sophomore year except a B+ in Calculus A honors (as I said, Calculus has not been my thing...) If it helps, I also got two A+s in AP Biology my sophomore year. No matter what scenario transpires for this semester, I am determined to get a 4.0 next semester at all costs.

I have a pretty great stack of diverse but not too spread-thin extracurriculars, great test scores (2370 on the SAT), and I'm pretty sure my recs next year will be kick-butt (and hopefully my essays too!) I was wondering how much this one poor semester would negatively affect my application to top schools (Ivies, Stanford, MIT/Caltech, UC Berkeley) amidst everything else. I know it'll hurt some since junior year is so important, and I basically screwed up half of it. If I do indeed get a 4.0 next semester and all 5's on the AP exams (just being optimistic), will admissions officers understand that I simply had a rough semester, but I brushed myself off and got back up stronger than before? Like if I do as well as I say/hope I will, colleges will know it's not that I'm stupid or lazy right?

I know I have a lot of questions, but I'm just really worried now and almost can't believe I let this happen to me... I would be so happy for a B in Calc BC whereas a year ago I was freaking out about getting an A- in dance...

Thanks for your input, and no trolls please :)

You need to stop making lame excuses for everything. You tried to hard to be the perfect applicant and you actually hurt your chances by trying to do that. You should have just dropped an AP or backed out of a couple extra curriculars.

You’ll probably be fine at a lot of places. If you really are from California, I’m sure you’ll get into Berkeley, but you don’t really give enough information about the rest of your academic history to really judge either way.

Thanks for responding jumpingjulia.

But lame excuses? I’m just being honest here.

You sound exactly like me right now! Except replace AP Calc BC with APUSH.
You’ll be fine.

Dont’ suffer from burnout dude! You’ll be fine.
