Hi guys, I recently applied Early Decision II to Syracuse, and had to do two additional essays. My neighbor, who is an english teacher, told me before i submit my application, to send it to her and she will help me revise it and correct my grammar mistakes. I sent it to her, but never got a response. And as the procrastinator I am, this was the last day to send in the application. She never responded, so i had no choice but to submit my application with my essays the way I wrote them. unfortunately, i got a response from her the next morning saying one of the essays were good, with a few grammar mistakes that she would correct, but my other essay should change completely, and that i should talk about another topic. even though the application is already in, is there any way i can send syracuse revised essays, so they dont have to take the ones i originally wrote, or am i screwed?
I don’t think you can rewrite an entire essay and send it in late, that would essentially be giving yourself a later deadline. Also, the grammar errors are not important enough to email admissions about unless it was a key word (I.e. The school’s name)
Sending a completely different essay would 99% not be accepted/also frowned upon. The grammatical errors don’t matter (especially if they don’t affect meaning) and as for the other essay, just be confident in what you wrote! It’s in now so there’s no use fretting subject matter. I’m sure it was a good topic, and everyone has a different opinion on what “colleges want.”
What is wrong with the other essay? Were you satisfied with it when you wrote it? It seems that you are basing your opinion of whether to send another essay in or not on one person’s opinion. It may turn out not to be a big deal at all
