I'm at OCC right now. Have 12 credits complete. Originally planned to transfer to OU, but decided on Umich.

I met up with my counselor and he told me I need 57 credits to transfer to Umich. He told me that after I have 57 credits, I can get into Umich easily with a 3.0. He said GPA won't matter after I've got two years under my belt at CC.

Is this correct at all?

I’m sorry, I should have mentioned that I am a Michigan resident. I also can afford Umich.

My original area of concern is my counselor making it seem like anyone can get in with anything above a 3.0. I was under the impression that Umich was difficult school for HS and transfer students, but he said it’s significantly easier to transfer in.

It might actually be pretty easy to transfer in to some school at UMich. Others (like Ross), probably not so much.

It certainly could be easier to transfer in to UMich than to get in straight out of HS. I know that that is the case if you are OOS and want to get in to UNC, for instance.

I would ask the counselor for data points on candidates who managed to transfer to UMich and those who failed.

BTW, did the counselor specify whether he was talking about UMich-AA (or UMich-Dearborn/UMich-Flint)?
