Method of Payment (Parents answers please)

I received the first payment bills from the University but am unsure which method is most convenient. My dad wants to pay using his credit card, and ignoe the "hassle" of writing and mailing a check. Yeah... that's it :D

Doesn't it just depend on him? Obviously if he thinks that paying with a credit card is easiest, it's easiest for him. As long as he's paying the bills, you have nothing to worry about, right? :p

Princeton doesn't accept credit cards.

Haha shows how much I know. Mommy takes care of the bills :o

you have to pay with a check... yeah... i know.. sucks- those miles would be nice too. Also, just fyi-- any student account bills need to be paid either with a check or with exact change. So before you go over to new south make sure you have the right amount of money

my mom wired the payment yesterday - I hope nothing goes wrong :(

Can we pay by a draft??

According to the Information regarding Payment of Fees and Expenses for Undergraduate Students bulletin

"All payments must be in the form of a check, drawn on a US bank in US dollars; but if that is not possible, check payments must be made sufficiently in advance to assure collection of these funds by a US bank byt he scheduled due date. If you would like to wire your payment, please contact our office at 609-258-6378. We do not accept credit card payments or post dated check."

So no I don't think you can pay by draft.

What exactly is "wiring" ?

Heh I don't know really. It's a kind of electronic transfer of funds I think. You call Princeton and they give you some numbers which you'll have to show to your bank. They'l make you fill out some forms and then do the rest.

what's a draft?

qtip:

draft is like a cashier's check. You go to the bank give them the money and they will create a check for the third party. It is kind of guaranteed money because the check is from a bank - personal checks could bounce. The term draft is more popular in foreign countries than US also it involves foreign exchange.

For US residents personal chacks are OK......remember the checks go to Philadelphia not to Princeton.

Also, if you are receiving financial aid and you get checks from some outside scholarships (many outside scholarships will send a check drawn to Princeton, but mailed to you), the check should be mailed to the Financial aid office.

If you are not getting any aid, those checks should go to the treasurer at Princeton - not Philadelphia.

draft = money order? If so, why wouldn't they take it? It's the same as a check, only more secure because they know it won't bounce.

they will take money order.

a draft IS a check

Well, I found out- pton does accept drafts, I sent mine today, hope it reaches them in time :)

adi did you dhl/fedex the draft? If so, what address did you send it to? (Seeing that DHL will not deliver to PO Boxes and the only address given was a PO box)

I sent it via speed post, they said it will reach princeton in a week. that's good enough for me :)

oh I didn't know speed post delivers to PO boxes!

I wish I could track the speed post stuff though. :(

well, actually you can track speed post through the indian post office's site and the tracking no. given to you, but when i tried to check it, it says that it cannot be tracked yet!
