Got my letter today!
I am scared about the placement test. How hard is it? :(
Does anyone know what really goes on over the selection weekend?

As a parent of a Meyerhoff student, the placement test isn’t too difficult. If you have been invited to the selection weekend, you have the ability to do well on the test. The selection weekend is a chance for you to get to know more about the program and for them to get to know you! You will get to stay with a Freshman Meyerhoff student in their dorm room and ask all kinds of questions. Be yourself. Mingle with lots of the students. Have fun!

I just finished taking the math placement test, but I haven’t taken the english yet. Math was pretty easy. Algebra had some graphing, solving for x, subtracting where you have to find a common denominator, pretty simple stuff. There were also logs and imaginary numbers which I really had to think about because I haven’t done them in so long. Pre-calc was also pretty basic. Make sure you know trig functions and the unit circle, also some geometry. It was pretty simple. I’m sure you’ll do just fine

Hi, proudmom1313. My son just attended the Meyerhoff selection weekend. My husband and I were blown away by the opportunities this will give our son. He only applied to UMBC and UMD. He got accepted into the Scholars program at UMD, he plans to major in Chemistry. If he doesn’t get into the Meyerhoff program, do you know if the UMD Scholars program compares? I worry that it won’t be nearly as supportive as Meyerhoff. Can you offer any insight on why/why not he should still attend UMBC if he isn’t accepted to Meyerhoff? Thanks.

What did your son think of the Meyerhoff selection weekend?

Hi, swimmergirl123, my son had a great time and was excited about being a part of such a wonderful program.

UMBC offers tremendous support to the undergraduate community that it serves. cugirl25 - I am glad that your son had a positive experience at the Selection Weekend. Please keep me posted.
