I am a long and horrible death trying to get through a practice test. I'm using the "15 realistic tests" by Rusen Meylani. I'm a very solid math student and have never struggled with math in my entire life. This test just killed my confidence and makes me want to crawl in a hole and cry.

Now tell me, is the real thing like this? Should I be worrying myself to sleep every night?

Thanks!

(Oh, and I also took a Barron's diagnostic and got a 690. I definitely don't want a 690 on the real thing. I'm supposed to be good at math!!)

Barron's is harder than the real thing. I went through the Kaplan review book(all of it) and took some practice tests from it. Finally, I took a practice test from the Collegeboard SAT II book. Don't worry yourself to sleep. You still have a lot of time to prepare. And remember, you can skip 6 I think and still get an 800. GL.

Yeah, I thought that SAT Math 2 was really easy. Barron's just gives you harder practice tests, that's all. hawkphoenix is right--you can get skip quite a few and still make an 800.

Making an 800 put me in the ~90th percentile, btw. So ~10 percent of test takers made an 800.

dude barrons...are you kidding lol its so freaking hard. i was constantly getting low 600s with barrons and i got a 780 on the real thing (not perfect, but meh)

Yeah, I know how you feel. I went through that same agony when I took my first test by Meylani (650!!). But don't fret; take some more and you'll see improvement and by test day you should definitely get over 750. That's the advantage of using difficult prep books. You'll be ridiculously over prepared so that the real test should be a breeze. Good luck :)

if you got a 690 on Barron's diag, you're off to a REALLY good start.
my scores for Barrons NEVER exceeded 650, and I ended up with a 790 on the real thing.

some argue the Meylani is even harder than Barron's.
so I wouldn't worry :]

You have plenty of time to study, unlike my 2 weeks. lol

I bought the book, never opened it.
Just use Barron's
seriously...it has everything you need to know and don't be discouraged by the practice tests.

The SAT Math 2 really isn't hard. I was getting 690s on practice tests and still ended up with an 800. Just make sure you do some review and get some sleep.

Everyone is so confident that math II isn't difficult.
I took precalc with an A (not amazing teacher, dont think we did everything)
but when i looked at practice questions, i was stumped on half.
thus I took math I (680).
im yet to be convinced math II is really easy to do well on with some studyig.

hmm what do you guys think of the Kaplan math level 2 book? is it harder than the real thing or easier? i just bought the book and i'm trying to grasp its level of difficulty in comparison to the real test.

Kaplan just sucks. It's totally unrealistic.

Yeah, has anyone here ever used Rudman's? I have been trying to study for an hour a day, and I have typically been really good in math with a very good teacher, but I am finding this ridiculously hard and frustrating.
