I have a couple of loose questions I'm wondering about- for info, I'm a Brit, living in the UK, with a non-art BA who's at the start of their art career. I want to be a painter and also have a dream of studying in North America for a couple of years. I'm aware that if I was to be self funded, it'd be much cheaper to stay in the UK as MAs are only a year long here. So these questions are just fuel/water for the fantasy...

Do Canadian unis/art schools offer MFA funding packages like some in the USA e.g. Hunter, Iowa etc...?

Do any of the more obscure colleges in the USA offer good MFA funding, if you don't care too much about the 'brand name' or location?

I've heard that there are shorter MAs in North America- would this be suitable since I don't want to teach? Or are they seen as a half-way house or somehow less than an MFA?

Just curious- thanks :)
