Final Desicion: Massart (?)

I'm a senior who has been accepted to California College of Arts, SAIC, Ringling, SCAD, SVA, and MassArt. (I'm also applying to AIB) I've received scholarships from most of them, except for Ringling and SVA. Now, I've visited SCAD and MassArt, and I liked both, except that I thought SCAD's location was kind of "dead". I've heard good things about the artistic community in Boston, and I feel like it would be a good place to start. I would like to attend SAIC (or CCA) but I have no idea what it's really like and even with a scholarship it's not really in my financial ballpark. I'm an illustration major, I just want to know if anyone here is attending/has attended MassArt? Did you think it was a good educational experience? Did it afford you some job opportunities? I've heard good and bad things about MassArt,(particularly that freshman courses are pretty tedious) but at the end I always hear the same thing: "you get what you put into it". Are there any overarching negative or positive aspects to MassArt (or any of these schools?) that would help me choose?

Thanks!

Mega-congrats to you. All those admissions are absolutely awesome.

But as a parent, let me ask you a question. Which schools are within financial reach? I am assuming that MassArt is. If so, go for it. I know nothing of the school, but Boston is one of the best places in the world to go to college.

MassArt is a state funded school so the tuition is extremely reasonable and they offer a reduced tuition for New England students. It’s just a few blocks from the wonderful Museum of Fine Art in Boston with it’s splendid new wing. A large school scattered within a block or so of interconnected old and newer buildings with some very impressive facilities. Just a block or so from SMFA. The tuition for Mass residents is around $7,000 I think, New England around $14,000 as I remember it and then it jumps to maybe $24,000. Strong communications/graphics department. It’s a good option for a more affordable undergraduate degree.

Digmedia, Massart, SCAD, and Ringling are the most affordable. Artsmarts, do you know if the Illustration department is any good?
