this is one of the most pointless conversations I've ever seen on CC.

Oh, and guess what. Villanova isn't even in the top 124 universities in the United States.

Because US News rankings are always correct ....

They may not be always correct but the fact that its not even in the top 124 shows that its totally stupid to even compare Villanova to UMich. NYU Stern and UMich Econ would be a better comparision (in which case I admit NYU Stern wins), or even UMich Econ vs UVA Econ. Definately not Villanova.

Even comparing it to UVA or Notre Dame would be a better comparison. But to say that this comparison--Villanova and UMich--is "totally stupid" might be a little hasty. US News rankings and Business Weekly have some major differences, Villanova being one of them. I don't think anyone should make a decision purely on rankings.

ahem Villanova isn't listed in the top 124 universities in the United States because it doesn't offer a doctorate degree, if not for other reasons. It is listed quite, quite high under Masters-only schools, but they only rank by region in that case.

Also, even though I believe Umich Econ is much better than Villanova Business, remember that some schools have great resources, but don't attract the best students. And yes, I have said before, being around good students is important...Just noting that just because Villanova has worse students doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't have great resources.

MightyNick, Villanova doesn't do doctorates...so if you look at the Master's categories, Villanova is ranked number one. Cut a little credit where it's due, this thread is pointless.

Wow, good timing, dsmo.

OP apply to both and if you get into both then visit the campuses and see which one you like better. They both have their upsides and they both have down sides.

I like Villanova because it is small, has a very diverse curriculum, and great job resources that will help every student to get a job/internship.

UMich has an amazing name and is among the best for job placement. Not to mention a great football team.

The businessweek rankings are skewed towards student satisfaction. Considering that factor is collected through surveys, the end result is very unreliable -- giving you schools like BYU ahead of Stern and Cornell AEM. I would put more weight in US News, despite it being skewed towards prestige.

Great minds think alike.

the only reason some of you think this thread is pointless is because you don't know anything about nova. yeah, it's not as well-known around the world but it deserves some recognition. sheeeeesh.

and mightynick is pretty lost right now. something is definitey up his gluteus maximus. no wonder he's so uptight.

get off me aspirant. :)

this thread is now pointless because its now just a bunch of people screaming about how their school is better, and yours is not.

i guess dsmo is having a little trouble following what is actually going on.

everyone obviously knows michigan is a better school overall than villanova, but we are comparing villanova b-school's job opportunities with umich econ. JOB OPPORTUNITIES.

and i don't even go to villanova. dsmo, your comments are pointless. at least you're done with telling the whole world that you got into cornell last year. that was a rather AMAZING accomplishment that required you to tell everyone in the whole world.

wow nice placement to bear stearns and bearing point. I like… you should go to nova

I think someone forgot ops and accounting don’t count

hahahaha i agree with dsmo
