Michigan GPA recalculation question

I know UofM recalculates GPA based on anything in the A-range (A+, A, A-) being a 4; anything in the B-range as 3; C-range as 2, and so on. I also know that they don't give bonus points for Honors/AP classes, and that they include all classes (including electives) taken.

My question is: if you retook a class, are they going to include BOTH grades into the GPA? Or will they replace the old grade with the new one altogether?

Thanks!

No one on this site will know the answer to that question.

Call admissions to get your answer.

They don’t recalculate anymore. The A range being a 4 thing ended last year. They just look at the UW GPA on your transcript and if there isn’t one listed then they calculate one just based on your grades.

now michigan takes what you have on your transcript. eziamm has it right.

We were also told by Admissions that they don’t recalculate any more, they just take what your school tells them.

a 3.87 is competitive, right?

ya 3.87 is def competitive, wait is that true? my sister just visited and they told her they recalculate…

From what I’ve heard, Michigan does not recalculate GPA’s. They ended that with the class of 2013. They now look at your transcript and the weighted and unweighted GPA’s.

Is this all true? The admissions rep who came to my school in the fall said they did this, and the one who gave an info session just last week told my family they recalculate…

Michigan stopped recalculating a year ago. You must have been misinformed or you must have misunderstood.

Then U of M is misinforming its visitors!
