He submitted his application 10/10. The e-mail indicated that his portal status had changed, so he checked, and now he has a congratulations message along with a formal letter he can download and links for the next steps for enrollment. Good luck to those still waiting for a decision!
My son was accepted today out of state. He submitted his application 8/8 and his school sent transcript on 9/2.

Is anyone seeing merit scholarships? When my oldest applied in fall 2019, I seem to recall that his initial merit awards arrived the same day as the acceptance (with some smaller, additional awards later)
Per the portal it seems that folks should start hearing this month:
Here at MSU, we start distributing scholarships in mid-November and continue through spring. You will be notified of any scholarships you receive through your account or a letter in the mail.

Responding to geolawyer, a significant uptick in applications in the same year as a university’s football team success is a well documented and predictable trend. Michigan State’s football success was short-lived this year, but if they had gone on to an undefeated season and an appearance in the BCS Bowl Championship Series, it would have absolutely affected the number of applications in a shockingly impactful way.
