i plan to go to msu for premed and i was wondering if you have to go to lyman briggs. I prefer a larger setting which is why I was considering the school of natural science.

I am not certain if you need to be enrolled in Lyman Briggs to get a Biology degree, for example, but Lyman Briggs students get first crack at the Life Sciences curriculum and all the perks, I believe. And remember, their is no standard curriculum/major for [many] Medical School admission as long a you have a basic science foundation, including math.

No, you don’t have to go to Lyman Briggs.

You do not have to be in lyman briggs but it can really be helpful. I think after your freshmen or sophmore year you can live anywhere.

thanks everyone. idk i just want freshman yr to be fun and if i get placed in a dorm w/ people who don’t really social it might not be a fun expierence. i’m pretty outgoing person, also i love sports so i would love to be in brody or south complex. if i’m in lyman briggs i’ll most likely be in holmes or hubbard which is like 30 mins from the breslin center and stadium. but i dont want the dorms or class sizes to stop me.

Right, the majority of on campus students live in that section.

@coolbrezze majority of the students live in the brody/south complex area?

Those are mainly freshmen, only other housing near Brody are apartments.

@coolbrezze oh i see, do you/did you go to msu?

No: I live in the area, have a sibling that attends MSU, and know multiple people alumnis and current students. I will be attending college this fall but not state.

oh yeah duh…lol univ. of iowa it says by your name. lol. so are you familiar w/ the curriculum at state? like would you recommend school of natural science or lyman briggs?

In-state? If so ofcourse, it’s the best option within the state of Michigan. Michigan State University residential colleges are great options for Michigan students. Good luck.

Thanks. I’m just nervous about getting in.

It’s built on first come first serve, so if you get accepted into MSU your elgible for lymin briggs.

Oh well I meant i’m nervous for MSU period. lol not lyman briggs. I’ll probably go into school of natural science…it seems better for me.

Both are great options but often those who are well informed about lyman briggs decided to attend the college. Good luck.

thanks. you were a huge help.
