Michigan State University Law Student Housing

I have decided to attend MSU Law School in fall 2014. I live out of state and have been perusing apartment options for 1L students on the internet. I cannot find any with consistently good reviews for the past year and that worries me. Can anyone recommend some good options? I did read about the Owen dorm rooms but that really doesn't interest me...unless someone highly recommends it. I do study a lot...I am not a partying person, but I am not a hermit either. I was hoping to not need a car for 1L and depend on the bus for transportation. Any advice is appreciated!!

I wouldn’t worry about partying during 1L.

My point is that I am hoping someone with knowledge of the housing situations could recommend housing at MSU for a person who likes quiet, study intended environments. I don’t want to hear what everyone else is doing in the apartment complex.

any suggestions?

I lived in Owen Hall for one year of grad school years ago. Wasn’t bad and they have maids to clean the private bathrooms in your room. The dining was probably the worst on campus but I would expect that has changed. It may be a good option if you don’t have a car. Since you have three years of law school, you can go off campus the next two. There are numerous houses for rent in the area (walking distance to campus) and you might find some grad students looking for roommates. Check Craigslist or maybe a link on the MSU site. (Also, you may want to post on the MSU college thread for other ideas. By the way, the campus is huge so figure that into the equation.

Try www.allmsu.com. Owen’s dining has improved significantly, but it’s still pretty average. It’s also maybe a five minute walk to the bus station, so it might be ideal since you don’t want to drive.
