Comments:

I feel like my study abroad program to Japan during the summer of 2008 is going to help me a lot and I'm really proud that I got a scholarship from the Japanese government to go. I also have a passion for Japanese language and culture and I was able to test out of Japanese I and Japanese IV. I also have been active in Japanese club and was named vice president at the end of my junior year.

I also think my math is strong and I have taken Honors Algebra I and Honors Geometry both in 8th grade, starting on an accelerated level. I also am happy about being an MMPC finalist.

My volunteer work is pretty weak and my standardized test scores aren't the best as of now.

University of Michigan-Ann Arbor - match
Michigan State - In
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign - in
Purdue University - in
UCLA - reach (Outta state… pretty tough)
UC-Berkeley - high reach… engineering if impossible to get into undergrad I hear
UCSD - high match
Princeton - we can all dream… its a crapshoot … best of luck to you
University of Virginia - high reach… tough out of state as well

if anything get those ACTs up.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/731503-can-you-guys-please-chance-me-would-mean-lot.html

GOOD LUCK!

Legacy will def. help you at UMich. Girl at my school with a 3.0 GPA and like 1800 SAT got in UMich because her mom and dad both went there. I would say you’re in.

Princeton will probably reject you. Sorry if that was outright cold, but your ACT really isn’t up to par with their standards, and even if it was, you still need something amazing going for you to make it in.

UCB and UCLA are hard out-of-state. So is UVa I believe, and UIUC and UCSD to a lesser extent. They are all reaches but I could see you making 1-2. For the other colleges, you’re in.

I think every are good matches except UC Berkeley, UVA (both are outa state so its going to be hard), and Princeton (reach for anyone unless you have some unique awards/talents). However, you should still apply because you never know what will happen.

UCLA might not be a reach even though its outa state because somebody at my school got in with similar stats.

thanks for the replies guys!!!

I know princeton is a long way away, I just added it in just for fun. My parents are encouraging me to at least apply to one ivy league school but I don’t really want to go to one. maybe for grad school , since its more important then.

bumpidity bump

University of Michigan-Ann Arbor: Match (likely in)
Michigan State: Safety
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign: Safety
Purdue University: Safety
UCLA: Low Reach
UC-Berkeley: Reach (it is almost impossible to get into this school as an out-of-state student)
UCSD: Match
Princeton: Reach (it is a reach for everyone!)
University of Virginia: Low Reach
