Would I have a chance at any of the following universities?

Hello! First I just wanted to thank you for taking your time to look at my question. I appreciate anything you have to say. What are my chances for getting into the following schools?

University of Wisconsin Madison
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
Emory
Northwestern
Georgia Institute of Technology
Dartmouth
Duke
Johns Hopkins
Princeton
Purdue University
Rice
University of Chicago
Vanderbilt
Washington University in St. Louis

I know some of these are high reaches for me but again, I would like any advice and information you have to say. Thank you! If you would like to be chanced, please say so.

Majoring in either sciences or engineering. From IL. Chance me? Thanks so much!

Also,
I spent some time in a lab, learning some of the techniques researchers use during the summer b/w jun and sen yrs summer
Took summer classes every summer:
Drivers ed-A
Business-A
Precalculus-A

Thank you so much!!

What’s your UC GPA? calculate it with your sophomore/junior grades.

UCLA/UCB-low reach due to lacking EC.
UWM-match
Rice/Vanderbilt-low reach
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor: reach due to OOS and EC
Emory-match
Northwestern-low reach
Georgia Institute of Technology-low reach
Dartmouth-reach
Duke-reach
Johns Hopkins-reach
Princeton-reach
Purdue University-safety
University of Chicago-HIGH reach
Washington University in St. Louis-low reach/

Your stats are fine but ECs are lacking.

UCSD: Match
UCLA/UCB: High Match/Low Reach
Are you in-state California and do you need FA?

Thank you! I calculate my UC GPA and it’s a 4. Thanks so much for your ratings!

I am from IL and yes I do need FA.

forger about uc schools. they give no aid to oos

Have you looked the financials? Do the calif schools even offer enough FA to get you there? Run the NPCs and see which schools are really viable financially to cover OOS rates. That would apply to all the desirable OOS state schools in your list.

UC’s give little to no financial aid to OOS students. Your price tag to attend would be close to $55K/year unless you can get a Regents which may reduce your costs by $8500/year.

@paul2752‌ I’d like to know how a 3.8 UW GPA, a 33 ACT, 11 APs all 4s and 5s, and volunteering at UChicago Medical Center makes UChicago (quite distinctly by your chance) a high reach.

sorry, didnt see that one…if thats so that really will boost the chance.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate all the information you have provided! As for financial aid, it is not a must have but just something I would prefer. Thanks for the heads up on UC schools. If any of you want me to chance you, just say so! And @Cosmological‌ thanks for the clarification with UChicago

Also, what about UC San Diego? Will I get in there?

Bump

Bump

What’s your parents’ budget?
It’s pointless to get into a school you can’t afford.
In addition, we’d need to take that factor into account (ie., you’re competing for admission only, or for admission+scholarship)?
If your parents gave you a firm number, indicate what it is - for example, if they said 45k, we shouldn’t just evaluate your odds of getting into a UC, but also your odds of getting a Regent.
If your parents didn’t give you a firm number, bring the results of the Net Price calculators for Wash U, UCLA, and Georgia Tech to them (as it should provide you with a range of prices) and ask them what they can afford out of pocket (from their savings, a college fund, or their income).

Thank you for your information. My parents are willing to pay around 50,000. I also plan on getting some scholarships outside of the colleges.

Okay, if your parents can pay 50K, you’re good at about all the public universities on your list. The others are “reach for everyone”, meaning your odds are very low, like for everyone.

I’ll give my input only for the UC schools because i don’t have much information on the others. UCSD is a match, UCLA is a high match and UC Berkeley is probably a reach. You have alot of solid scores and gpa but your really lacking in EC’s. None of your EC’s(except the last part about being in the lab) pertains to your major for engineering.
Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1714191-chance-me-please.html#latest</a></p>

I wanted to join math club but it was in the morning and I took early gym. I also wanted to do Science Olympiad but I had scheduling problems and no ride. I don’t know if this will help but for scholastic bowl, I was the math/science person. And I am now also co-captain for my scholastic bowl team.

University of California- Berkeley, Los Angeles, San Diego- high match / low reach
University of Illinois- Urbana Champaign- match
University of Wisconsin Madison- match
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor-match
