Michigan Tradition Award

oh my... I checked wolverine access today and something new has shown up under my award summary. It lists the Michigan Tradition Award worth $10,000. Can anyone give me more information? Did Michigan really just give me 10K?? I haven't gotten squat so far and this would be a dream come true.

Wow, that's so wonderful. 10k a year for four years?? I've never heard of the Michigan Tradtion Award, never.

I have no idea if it's renewable or not... I'll probably die of bliss overload if it is. If I got full tuition I'd be set. oh man...

I haven't heard of it either, which is what makes me a little nervous. But I asked on facebook and one girl said it showed up for her too and she called the office and they said it's legit. She didn't say whether or not it's renewable, though...

I've seen how excited you are to be a Wolverine, so I'm very happy for you!

I got it too. I'm OOS and Mich gave me full fin aid. Wow is all i have to say, lol.

congrats, odin64x!

do you know if it's renewable? I'm dying to know.

OMG I got it tooo!!!!!:D I'm really hoping its renewable, but this is such a blessing! I'm instate and now I have a full ride + some extra. :D !!!

I called this morning. IT'S RENEWABLE!!!!!

askl;dfjapweoifjapefjasdf :D

congrats to everyone else who got it, and thanks for the kind words, SBDad. I now believe in miracles :)

Wow.. So does anyone know why we got it, or just because we have good luck.. or..? And Congrats to you annarborchick and odin64x, and everyone else that got it!

It's a new award program, and it's partially based on the Descriptor Plus program that the Detroit newspapers recently described. The fact that you are applying from an area where U-M is underrepresented geographically played a role.

Congratulations!

Hey, it's good to live in Houghton!

Yes, congratulations all you geographically desirable applicants. We suburbanites may find it profitable to move!

Or you could move to Kalamazoo fredmar!

U-M loves its Yoopers.

They flash their secret hand signals and then say something in Finn-glish to each other, while the rest of us trolls look on in confusion.

Yeah I got this award too, but as I'm out of state, it would still cost me upwards of $30,000/year to go to Michigan. So it really doesn't affect my decision in the least. OSU BABY

Wow, it FINALLY pays to live in the freakin' boonies.

glad for you annarborchick... my daughter attends UM and is a sophmore, so she is ineligible, apparently, but yesterday we learned my son got the $40,000 for 8 terms. We were in awe, I just filed for student loans and now it looks like I can reduce that. No matter how many times granholm has screwed me as a business owner.... this time she did something right.... for us.
