I'm aiming for engineering, and Michigan engineering seems strong, but I'm not too sure about Shanghai Jiao Tong University. I'm In-State for Michigan.

I don't think many people on this forum will know anything about Shanghai Jiao Tong. But, many people on this forum CAN tell you that overall, Michigan is one of the country's best schools. It's engineering program (among MANY other disciplines) is tops, and being in-state should seal the deal.

hahahaha this is great

Shanghai Jiao Tong University is very renowned in China. arvandm, are you Chinese?

Tune in next week for Michigan vs. University of Mars!!

The team from Shanghai Jiao Tong University was the 2005 world champion in collegiate coding contest. They were the fifth last year when MIT was the eighth.

... am I supposed to laugh at this?

Well, if you are Chinese (hopefully fluent in Mandarin), then Shanghai would be a good choice- not very hard for an engineer to find a job in China these days!

As for should we laugh. Not at all. Shanghai is one of the leading universities in China, and will become very influential as China's surging tide raises all its boats, including this one.

Do people speak english in Shanghai Jiao Tong University?

Chinese universities are producing graduates at such a high rate that it's nearly impossible for a college graduate to get a job without "connections." Even graduates from the two best universities in the nation (Beijing and Qinghua University) cannot find jobs so they pursue further studies in America.

"Tune in next week for Michigan vs. University of Mars!!"
Hahahahaha, I can't decide whether or not that was a little mean, either way I found it quite funny.

What is up with all these Michigan vs. Whatever University threads? They're getting bothersome. ==;
