Microfridge and Other Stuff

I found the page with the specs, but does anyone know what the fee is for renting a microfridge? (I think this is a great idea instead of buying one like we did for our other daughter a few years ago and dealing with the between terms hassle.) Are there other things for your dorm room that you can rent for the school term?

Thanks!

the price is 239.06 for both fall and spring semesters(2011/2012)! as far as i know, that is the only thing you can rent

don’t bother renting one, it’s so expensive.
Instead go and buy a mini fridge once youre here. They’re way cheaper (I bought one for like $130) and + it comes with the advantage that BU can’t search your fridge if they come into your room. This means that if youre drinking alcohol in your room all you have to do when the RAs knock is put it in the fridge and let them come in and they can’t do ****.

If you don’t rent the microfridge, though, you can’t have a microwave. BU doesn’t allow microwaves in the dorm unless it’s attached to the microfridge.

Also, inaccurate statement, NiklasK…the RAs might not be able to force you to open a fridge if its yours, but they can call BUPD who can certainly open it, or they can report that you’ve been uncooperative in not opening it–which comes with the almost non-rebuttable presumption that there was alcohol in there. Judicial Affairs isn’t exactly concerned with due process. I’d find a better hiding place for your booze than a fridge, whether it’s yours or not.

Since we live on the west coast, carting a mini-fridge home over the summer isn’t an option. Also, I doubt there’s much of a resale market for them at the end of the term. It may be more expensive to rent, but you get the microwave and convenience. Plus, splitting the cost with your roommate makes it more reasonable.

Those microfridges aren’t that big. You’d be hardpressed to fit more than one bottle of alcohol in there as it were, much less something you and your friends wouldn’t finish in a night.
