I was attempting to order Office 2003 at the discounted price through MIT, but it says the product is unavailable. Then, when searching for the academic discount on govconection, the cost is 160 dollars. I believe I am mistaken, but I don't have to spend the 160 dollars, do I?

I'm not sure about MIT's discount for Office 2003, but I know you can get Office 2007 Beta 2 for free. I believe Microsoft's still giving out the beta version. I'm using it, and I prefer it over Office 2003.

Yup, Beta 2007 is great and free ;)

Ooh, Beta 2007... I'm going to go looking for that right now. I'm running XP right now and I really like it, but a free upgrade is a free upgrade ;)

the 07 ribbon isn't as dumb as it sounds

I'm using '07 too.

do u think MIT will give us a discount buying windows vista when it officially comes out? =D

Most likely you will be able to get it for free -- after all, you can currently get XP Pro for free.

You can even get Vista Beta free!

I can't find the Office 07 beta - can someone post a link?

EDIT - found it myself, here: http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/beta/getthebeta.mspx

Just a note, Office 07 Beta 2 will stop functioning after February 1, 2007.

I wouldn't buy Office 03... Just wait for Office 07 to be released and in the meanwhile use the beta.

orbis_somnio:

If you want it to continue functioning, just roll back the date on your BIOS. At least, that's how it was with all the other MS betas.

This free software is pretty cool.
